I started this collection with the idea of upcycling old garments and materials, of giving them a new life where, instead of being thrown away and considered "trash," they are utilized and treasured. Through a process of deconstructing and reconstructing a variety of secondhand materials, as well as combining them with new materials in order to ensure garment’s conceptuality and practicality, my collection aims at exploring what it means to be sustainable in today’s age. Does sustainability lie in the source of the material, the craftsmanship, the labor, or the ways in which we allow a garment to form an emotional connection to us? That is a question I believe we may need to look within ourselves to find the answer, and the conversation my collection is set to initiate.
