A tailoring project inspired by 1980s women and their gain of power as well as social status after the World War II.

Silhouette: 

Authoritative, formal, power-suit inspired, yet sexy and contemporary, making the woman look more dominating and powerful than her natural physical traits

 

Details:

  • Body-conscious foundation 

  • Exaggerated & extending collar, shoulder, and pocket to emphasize the powerful feel while maintaining a sexy, feminine look

  • Layered silhouettes and proportionfocused aesthetic to make the look more fun and 
    unique, while an overall balance is still maintained between the asymmetrical details

 

 

Final ensemble includes a tailored jacket and a tailored skirt (illustration above). 

 

  • Silhouette: Fitted jacket with double high collars emphasizing power. Set-in sleeves. Outer parts include shoulder-crossing layer and underarm outer layer. Mini skirt with an outer part as pocket. Invisible zipper on the back princess line. 

  • Materials: Wool suiting (100% wool) as main fabric, tricot as interfacing, hair canvas and muslin as understructures. 

  • Color: Dark Navy
